* 1 is a combined plug connector AMP EconoSeal, 2 is a flat plug connector, 3 is a round plug connector, 4 is a AMP Superseal plug connector, 5 is a double plug connector PVL 7603.

Note When ordering it is important to quote the type of plug connector as the plug connector is available in 5 variants and must suit the stator selected. In general, all PVL ignitions are suitable for clockwise and anticlockwise rotation, however, this changes the ignition timing and a new mark (offset by approx. 180° KW) must be set. Exchanging the black and white/blue plug connectors achieves a similar offset as changing the direction of rotation. If a stator, which was intended for anticlockwise rotation, is used for clockwise rotation, the ignition can be restored to the original range by changing the polarity. However, the ignition is then in a different position as the voltage course on the stator is only a "distorted" sinusoidal course after this measure. If e.g. stator 1052 is combined with plug connector type 2 (flat plug connector) and rotor 952 with ignition coil 105 458, the standard direction of rotation is clockwise and the plug connector is coil start "blue" and coil end "black and white". If you wish to change this ignition to anticlockwise, only the flat plug connectors need to be changed and the black cable connected to the blue cable and the blue cable to the black cable (connect in diagonally opposite sequence). The ignition will now run perfectly anticlockwise as the polarity of the coil start and the coil end has been reversed. This solution can be applied if an engine is to be modified to PVL and the required stator is not available with the respective direction of rotation.

Analogue ignition components cannot be combined with digital. Stators for analogue and digital systems are designed differently. Different plug connectors were selected to avoid confusion. As the physical effects of induction cannot be compensated by calculation in analogue systems, these effects must be kept to a minimum right from the start. The more windings on a stator, the better (earlier) the starting characteristics. However, this leads very quickly to a considerably retarded timing, which clearly has an effect on performance depending on the engine. Therefore, it is very important to know the exact engine characteristics i.e. the available power and speed ranges. Stators with 1850 windings are normally used in kart engines, which run very fast and are started either by push-starting or an electric starter. Stators with 3000 to 4000 windings are used on motorbikes e.g. Enduro, Cross etc. as they guarantee very good kick starting characteristics. Stators with over 4000 windings are used in some cases but this is exceptional. Stators such as e.g. 1052 (4000 windings) can be combined with analogue ignition coils 105 458 (black) or 479 100 (red). A significantly higher speed was achieved in our tests with a combination of stator 1052 and ignition coil 479 100 with e.g. a racing Simson S51 with 12 HP. Please take the ignition curves from the Diagrams. Analogue systems clearly have a more favourable price-performance ratio and can be supplied in many performance variants and sizes. It is especially important that particularly with modifications such as e.g. for Oldtimer motorbikes, racing scooters, moped racers (KTM 50, Zündapp 50, Sachs 50, Malaguti 50 and many more) the direction of rotation, the crankshaft lateral bearing cone, the space in the engine casing, the engine speed and the requirements for endurance tests (24 hour moped racing) are known. In almost all these cases, an adaptor plate made of aluminium or an adequate plastic (with as low heat conductivity as possible) must be designed and manufactured for these modifications. This adaptor plate must be made so that the PVL baseplate rests exactly concentrically to the middle of the crankshaft bearing and can be adjusted in both directions. Therefore, this is important as the rotor runs in the stator with only 0.1 mm play and must not rub against the stator core laminates. We will be happy to advise you regarding modifications and manufacture these adaptor plates for you.
